BMW Headlights Use Laser Rays

German car manufacturer BMW continues to innovate in their latest products. One of them, developed the car using a beam of laser light.

As reported by Motorauthority, Monday, September 5, 2011, the light created by the Bavarian engineer is claimed to be brighter, kinder to the eye, and energy efficient, LED lights instead.

The main purpose of the development of laser technology is to improve safety and efficiency drive. BMW said the laser lighting not only enhances the value of a car, but also have a revolutionary function.

Lasers have different properties with sunlight or other lights that exist today. Has a monochromatic laser type, or size of the wave length of light in all the same.

The laser produces a beam of parallel adjacent to each other, plus a stronger intensity of the LED lights. The laser light produces 170 lumens per Watt, is far better than LED bulbs which only produce 100 lumens of illumination.
As a result, in terms of efficiency, this new front lights can reduce energy consumption by 50 percent. The new findings will continue to be refined. In recent years BMW will use this technology on a mass product.

Laser light technology it will first be used on concept cars BMW i8, who plans to enter the production process in 2014.
